I have been searching for a pair of headphones that's white in colour and must look nice and comfortable.

Occassionally I have laid eyes upon this brand of headphones and yesterday, I've gotten my hands on a pair of Beats by Dr Dre!

Tested it out, it sounds superb!!~ Ear cushions are comfortable to put on for hours at a time. This is the HD version thus resulting in its glossy finish.

Lack of entries since a month ago. Damn time passes really fast!

Really busy nowadays, though things will get better in about 2 weeks time.

Thinking of going on a short trip overseas. :) Any ideas?

Performed at SCAPE Orchard Road on the 23rd of Jan with the whole bunch of us from Ocean Butterflies Performing Crew. Everyone was fantastic, photos are up on my facebook.

Performed with the group at XQRJ 2010 finals as guest performers a few days ago. We represented Ocean Butterflies alongside Touch Music Publishing.

Got to know Tang Xiao Kang 汤小康, composer (singer-songwriter) of song Qing Fei De Yi 情非得已 and several other hits. He was one of the judges for the competition and he sang along with us as a surprise for the audience. Really a wacky and fun guy! Photos are up on my facebook too.

Can't wait for Universal Studios Singapore USS to open! I hope it's gonna be more fun than Universal Studios Japan USJ. It was difficult and really annoying trying to understand what the hell they were speaking in USJ Osaka, Japan. The only thing I can foresee contravening or ascribing about is the bloody hot weather in Singapore. Temperatures in USS will be lowered by 3 - 5 degree celcius. Let's see about that. :P

Oh my it has almost been a month (and a different year too) since I last wrote an entry. :)
Just didn't had the mood (also a lil' on the time) to blog.

I really had fun during the trip with my family to Japan.
It was really rushed but memorable to say the least.
The Japanese are extremely polite and friendly. Things there were of top notch!

Got to know very good friends from the trip too. Big "shout-out" to Ethel, Ryan and Carrie! :)

Even caught Avatar the movie with them in Singapore right after our trip.

COUNTDOWN to 2010 was pretty epic.
My family and I did it with long time friends of my mom from Portland, Oregon.
We went for a dinner at Kublai Khan Mongolian Restaurant @ ParkMall and spent the rest of the night at their Somerset apartment.

Got to know Echo's beau Cameron and her cousin Yiying. Echo's now in college far from home (I love how she's able to take an hour of subway to NYC New York City), Cameron's into photography and graphic art, Yiying's a working writer at FEMALE. Really cool to me

After the countdown on Channel 5, we rushed to the rooftop to catch at least a 5 min view of the fireworks from Marina Bay.

Pretty nostalgic because the last time I saw Auntie Dawn, Uncle Jeffery and Echo, it was 3 years ago and I was still a shy guy back then, mainly due to being an introvert. :P This time round, we were having conversations like we were all grown up and indeed we are. :)

Next countdown in Portland, Oregon? Lol

Auntie Dawn and her family (the Thomases) were asking when will we be visiting them.

Guess that wasn't the first time but I'll make it a point to do so and I'm wishing my parents do too. :)

Can't wait to visit their huge house, rather like a mansion seen from aerial photos. They have their very own swimming pool and a tennis court. :P Epic.

There are so many things which I didn't blog about besides the two experiences above, like I when got an iPhone 3GS, changed my synthesizer to a controller and used the rest of the money to get a pair of KRK Rokit 5.

Using my macbook to blog this.

Got a voucher for John Little. Used it to get an extremely comfortable bed quilt along with the comforter. :D

Changed the sheets right after I came back home lol.

On the same day, I decided to work on my studio's setting, which was to me, undesirable.

So I worked doubly hard on my own, swapped furniture positions and shifted my synthesizer keyboard to the front instead of facing the wall. -.-

Decided to use the bigger screen for my macbook too. Right now everything looks extra huge to me! :D

Using the windows pc (left) for video editing and mac (right and centre) for music. :)

Went to Jentzen to get my hair simmered and dyed to the colour I've always wanted but couldn't achieve. In order to get that colour, you have to go to a hair-saloon because of the extensive amount of care taken in brushing the roots. :)

Picture below isn't the final colour! Lol.

These 2 pictures are the 1st and 2nd bleaching respectively.

Had to bleach twice to get the colour I wanted. :D

Sorry for not blogging much lately.

Really caught up with many things, and I really mean A LOT.

Imagine getting down with flu, fever and sore throat and then you have to cope with school, freelance work and music.

Furthermore dealing with things which are supposedly redundant but which ironically caused so much worries.

Anyway, on a lighter note, I attended the 3rd workshop by Touch last week.

Showed one of my older songs (BIG MISTAKE) to Billy laoshi and got "gunned down at point blank" for my melody (don't talk about lyrics, C6 for Chinese O levels and usually failing before that, what can anyone expect? LOL) :D

Truth of the matter is, I was just stunned at the beginning but I wasn't even sad at all, not even a single bit and I swear this upon my own life.

Then this week, I've been catching up with Eugene, doing arrangements and just chilling out. :)

Earlier yesterday, I went with Eugene to meet up with JY laoshi around 11.

However, under unforeseen circumstances, JY had something urgent and we went into the recording studio to relax.

Zennon laoshi was there, he's a senior producer, loads of respect for him too!

Junyang then shared his experiences and loads of tips for song-writing.

Kinda chilled in his cozy home studio unknowingly. Lol.

Right now, I have a clearer mindset of better melodies and that one can never be satisfied with his music or else he's finished.

Good talking to him with Eugene, he has introduced so many things to us that I've lost count!

One which left a deep impression on me was John Mayer.

I think I'm gonna revamp my home studio to something like his if need be. Most probably getting monitor speakers and maybe a better condenser microphone. Let's see if there's enough cash to go about. If not, I have to start selling some of my Bearbricks and limited edition toys. :)

Off to bed, I had only close to 4 hours of sleep previously.

I shall end with this:

If one doesn't sacrifice some sweat and blood, there won't be benefits to reap, leading to no improvement made.

Am so glad that she was elated to do it!

Second of all, my cover on T-Pain's "Bartender" has been completed. Equalizing with auto-tune OF COURSE.

I mean, he's the auto-tune king and all, and if I covered his song without auto-tune, I'm very sure it's not gonna be in the same league at the end.

Auto-tune is great! Lol.

I don't care what people say about auto-tune, what about it spoiling good music and all.
If you are a composer or a musician, you must be open and be ready to absorb almost everything without complain.

I think auto-tune is creative!

Of course, use it the right way and not to make up for vocal flaws.

People around the world say "it should be used in parts, and wisely, not overused."

I agree 50-50. My reason: Music is a sense of choice, as long as you're doing it great, I believe people should respect your choice. I agree with over-usage, however, if it is what a particular singer chooses to have throughout his or her song, then it's still a matter & principle of respecting his music.

If you're gonna tell me that it should be about SINGING without having to use some holy effect, then tell me this, why are some singers focusing more on their looks than their voices?

Anyway.........

Auto-tune was greatly accepted by many listeners around the world when Cher released "Believe" in 1999. Top 10 music in the Billboard Chart that year.

However, producers used a vocoder instead of the current auto-tune application.

There's another more primitive device called the Talkbox.

One can easily plug that into a synthesizer (KORG M50 is one of them hehs!)

or a guitar and off you go.

It's simpler and not so complex as a vocoder or auto-tune (one electronic and the other digital respectively).

Nonetheless, auto-tune is already a part of the music industry, especially in Rnb/hip-hop/DJ/Pop (a lil' here and there) genres.

It will, however, eventually become passe’– and fade from pop music accordingly.

But in the meantime, take it down and live with it!

Saw a 2 storey scaffolding raised up from the ground in my living room.
Awesome sight at home! Lol.
It was there to replace some lightings way at the top of the 2 storey ceiling, some of which have malfunctioned.

I think I've been blogging, almost everyday since a few days back!

Crazy, gonna channel my focus on freelance work (I need my freaking pay!), music (both composing and performing [subbed into singing and playing!]).

I've been working everyday for my freelance work as an agreement between me and the boss.

Have to get it done before the December launch date in North America, which is EVERYTHING done by 30 November.

Anyway, to cool myself down from severe stress, I think of my trip and new changes to my house. Wait, plus, material needs?? =P

Buffet lunch with family at Sakura, I think I'm hating that place more and more.

Afterwards, went to get the winter jacket which I like a lot! You have to see and feel it in person to get its quality! :D

Packed my contact lenses into a waterproof casing. They're already kept safe in my luggage.

PACKING MY LUGGAGE...
I used to hate packing, usually at the last minute type of packing, for overseas trips but it has been much better recently!

I had to wear 2 layers of gloves on each hand last year because the temperature in Beijing and especially Tianjin was really freaking minus 5 degree celcius cold! It was biting dood!

This time round, I'll try wearing only my favourite leather glove hehe.

Oh ya, not forgetting the caps and trucker caps! (If you think this is a lot I have more than this wakaka! :P)

My rather new luggage, only used once as this is a huge one!

Point to note if you're using new hard case luggages: I used it for my Beijing trip and on the way there and back the baggage men poorly handled our luggages. For a hard casing, I expected a few scratches and maybe rubbed marks here and there. I was correct, except for one thing, one of the 2 locks came loose and it was almost impossible to get my luggage to fully close. I had to depend on the other lock to keep my stuffs inside secured.

Anyway, I travelled by SIA so I called them up. SIA has really great services! They specially came to my house to pick up my then-spoilt luggage, sent it to their baggage repair centre and delivered it back to my house FOC.

And if they aren't able to repair it properly, they'll refund you the full cost you paid for the luggage! Isn't that great?!??! That's why SIA is the leading airline in the entire world. =)

Happy Halloween..

Michael JJ's This Is It

Great movie! Caught it with Huanjie ls, Collin, Wendy, Jasmine, Stephanie and Iris (were there 2 more ppl? lol nvm). It was so disheartening to see those people who put in SO MUCH effort (including high budget filming productions), new moves by Michael Jackson himself, all the respect he received, even from the director (Kenny). Michael JJ was, at all times, controlling the stage.

This was part of the 2009 training where MJ did his patented Smooth Criminal "anti-gravity lean". (Photo is part of the "This Is It" CD album.

Also, right before watching "This Is It", went out with Huanjie ls, Wen Hao, Fiona, Iris, Chun Rong, Wendy and Alex to catch "Jennifer's Body". It was a rather, evil & scary but funny movie. Even the critiques say so. Lol.

Wen Hao got very frightened during the movie wahahha (I laughed because I saw him literally moved when he was shocked :P I guess he won't be able to watch scarier films, I can't too but "Jennifer's Body" was of average horror to me).

Chun Rong kept laughing! Wth! lolol but it's all good anyway.

*Heads up to the guys: It's gonna get pretty hot.

Recently I've noticed a lot of Singaporean guys and gals are using this word in their sentences.

What word? The word is: "Imma"

For example, they put it in their very own context: "imma sad little kid"

Somewhere along those lines.

It sounds really stupid because "imma" means "I'm going to".

If I were to put that into the sentence above, it'll be "I'm going to sad little kid"

Please refrain from using American slang if you don't know how to use it. It really makes me feel that Singaporeans do not know how to jumble slang or just use "imma" for the sake of using because it's the "in" word or the "cool" word in this modern society.

Yes, I know for some of them, their grammar's superb but once you add in a word that is so easy to understand (even illiterate Americans are able to use this in word in their daily lives) and yet managed to screw up royal, you've earn yourself a one way ticket saying "I follow the crowd even if I don't get it".

Bah!

I really love reading Ariel aka bearbricklove's posts. I just wanna share some of the things I find interesting.

For those of you who love Bearbricks (that includes me), you'll certainly love to stay a night or two at Hotel Amour. Do drop by this hotel if you're in Paris. http://www.hotelamourparis.fr/

It's set up by renowned graffiti artist, a Parisian named André (borned and raised in France).

Rooms like these costs around 90 - 150 Euros per night. It's cheap for chic.

That's about 135 - 225 USD and 188 - 310 SGD. Well, prices for hotel rooms so hip and chic are considered cheap in Paris, France.

There is a catch though, the hotel does not have any television set or telephone, opting rather for vintage porno magazines and limited edition Bearbrick figurines as decor. I guess they stand by their belief that that is the way to be cool.

KAWS Dissected Companion

It's such a great feeling to own a KAWS product. Saluting KAWS (Brian Donnelly) in a way.

He used to work for Disney as an animator and after moving to New York City he started swapping the images on billboards, bus shelters and phone booth advertisements. (e.g photo on the left)

Normal advertisements turned into advertisements with his drawings pasted onto them.

You must be wondering...

How did he open the cases?

He held a "masterkey" that would open up almost anything. It could be just a bendable needle for all we know.

KAWS Dissected

Was looking around for the KAWS dissected and/or KAWS Companion and I saw a seller in Singapore.

I'm definitely not gonna buy this.

Just thought of sharing with you readers.

It's life-size and these costs like roughly 2800 SGD each.

There are the smaller versions though.

They do cost a bomb too and I have no plans to get them.

KAWS X stuffs are always extremely expensive. Highly priced valuables: That is what a lot of people consider them to be including yours truly. Lol.

Maybe, maybe, maybe.....

Perhaps I could get a X KAWS X related item. Lol :p

Been talking about going for driving lessons since ages but to no avail till this second.

Gonna make myself learn driving by this week.

I paused my driving several months ago due to training and lack of time.

Right now my video editing freelance work is still waiting to be rendered and handed to my boss.

And FYP [Final Year Project] has sort of started due to lack of time once again.
*Start early and finish without rushing.

Do you ever wonder which expertise you're gonna be when it's time to work?

I mean, I for once am always thinking of some far-fetched "quick-fix" idea that probably won't work out.

The only thing which I know I'm good at is in music but to what extent?

I'm good on piano. Although I didn't take my Grade 8 practical back in 2005 I had already prepared 2 of the 3 songs I was supposed to play and practised part of the scales.

I don't look at it as a pity because I'm contented and satisfied that I in turn explored pop music. Be it mandopop, Rnb, hip-hop or a combination of the mentioned genres.

I really don't wanna write stuffs in here like "I must work harder this time round, I must put in double the effort, I mustn't give up at this point in time etc. etc.". ~~~ You know what I mean.....

Talk is cheap, without action nothing can come to fruition.

It's time to change my method for composing. I know what to do but it'll take some time to get used to it. One of these days ~ I'm working for a breakthrough in my music.

And the weirdest part is you don't brag about yourself. Instead, you brag about your previous friends who I don't think keep in contact with you any longer. I mean, you've got nothing to brag about yourself, then don't brag at all and make me endure talks that are not related between us.

While on the way back, some girl actually came up to me and Sam and I was wondering if she was asking for something....until, I recognised that face. It was Lydia! My art friend back in secondary school. We used to hang out in a clique which I've dispersed from. lol
I remember the times we went for KTV sessions at Kbox and discovering my "talent" in singing, as Lydia put it earlier hahaha. :p
We walked to the interchange, chatted till her bus arrived and I headed off in the Apple store direction.

I watched "9" along with Sam and Khai earlier today after meeting my boss [work and work, tired].

It was an average movie, or probably because I was eating London Fish n Chips [the authentic way, they come in a paper bag] in the theatre and didn't know which to focus on [LOL].

It's co-produced by Tim Burton, who brought us films like "Nightmare Before Christmas" and "Corpse's Bride" using stop-motion footages. However, "9" is fully based on 3D animation if I'm not mistaken.

Overall, his shows are always dark so the same feeling will be there. If you've watched his previous films, you'll know what I mean. His films are always featuring new and profound characters, sometimes simple and effective. Even the look of the characters are somewhat dark but camouflaged by various features on the face.

On the whole, I would recommend "9" :)

ps. However, don't point the finger at me if it sucked for you. :p

My First Bearbrick Baby 3rd Edition [Black & Silver]

Came back yesterday from malaysialand.
Met up with Zac and Miaoru today, sold Zac a dynamic microphone lol.
And feel so bad for making them come down all the way from CityHall.
Reason was I decided to make a call to Kelvin just in case and was told my Bearbrick hasn't been sent to Jurong Point. :x
And the 3 of us took a cab down near to PS.

Went down to Plaza Singapura to collect this baby, literally. :D

The name of this Bearbrick is also meshed together in the Bearbrick.
When you shake it, the matching-colourway balls rattles and sounds like a baby's rattle. :)

I know I know, I've missed the order, let alone the pre-order for the Billie Jean Michael Jackson from Hot Toys BY A LONG SHOT, a very long one. Lol. I want it so badly and luckily, although I know it's just not the same, Hot Toys is gonna release a Thriller version of Michael Jackson in about 2 months time.

Watched "Living With Michael Jackson", a documentary by Martin Bashir [mf: dirty hyprocrite] for the 5th time since 2003.
I really truly hate this guy down to the Earth's core. Can someone just shoot his brains out?
MJ trusted him so much just because he did an interview with Princess Diana but he had this in him all along: "callous self-interest masked as sympathy".
He made people believed Michael was a weird person, making his life worse.

And I know I'm bitching, but really people, if you go on to say MJ is a weird fella and a sicko, do some research online, watch the interviews, watch the home-videos, watch the way he lived his life, you'll agree with me that he's a 100% innocent.

How can people say things that are so biased when they didn't even care or took the time to watch just several videos? I'm not gonna spoon-feed you by adding all the links that I have but there are photos and many videos that are evidences that he's neither guilty nor a weird guy.

Meet Sharin Foo of The Raveonettes. She has the same surname as me! Lol.
She has been on bass, guitar and vocals along with Sune Rose Wagner who's on guitar, instruments and vocals. Band was formed in 2001. Released 3 studio albums so far and an upcoming one this 6th October titled "In and Out of Control".

Sharin's 1/4 Chinese so we probably have the same ancestors, that means we COULD be relatives, since the surname "Foo" is hard to come across. Once a person's surname is "Foo", he's bound to be of Hainanese descend. Unlike other Hainanese surnames like "Lee" which can be Hakka or whatever. Hainan Island is separated from the mainland. My grandfather hailed from Hainan Island and I'm cool about it. Hainan "Dao" is China's Hawaii afterall. Lol.

After performing @ bistro located at Singapore Flyer, it was already close to 8pm. However, Jianwei decided to take a look at how the STGCC is, bearing in mind he's a massive toy collector and props creator/designer.

We rushed down to Suntec. Some of them were already packing up but most things were still intact. :)

And apparently my friend here knew the boss of Action City and many other toy collectors since 10 years ago. Omg way to go bro! [Hi Jianwei if you're reading this haha] So I was briefly introduced to Action City's young and defined boss. Phat! It was rad!

Reached around 10.30 and we went to line up in the queue for fun. Singaporeans love to stand in line.

Just watched Harry Potter with Graceee. hahah! We got some stuffs from Marks and Spencer before going in...

HP was on the whole, good to watch. Of course, reading the storybook is much better. :) I just felt a lil' bored when the film was about to end.

I'm gonna give a spoiler here to those who haven't read the story. lolol just my type of fun. Guess who died in the end? The character's name starts with a "D". =p

This week was well spent.

Will definitely miss the times we spent together as a whole. :x Needless to say, 4 months is a short amount of time. Well, I do hope that all of us will work hard towards our dreams and expertise be it Singer/Artiste, Song-writer, Composer, Lyricist, Performer, Teacher, Backstage personnel. Yes I'm having a sleep disorder I guess. Because the latest I slept this week was 9am, waking up at 5pm. However it's back to a "normal" 3 or 4am sleep.

Got to go prepare now, going to St James Power Station for some talk by Billy Koh 老师. And Lee Hsien Loong will be there. Security and clearance will be tight as hell.

When I look at Navi, he's like the Man In The Mirror, that is, Michael Jackson's mirror.

Navi has always been MJ's body double and at one time in Japan, decoy for MJ. If I'm not wrong he has worked for MJ since the 1980s.

I reckon he should take MJ's place in the O2 Arena concerts although they are already planning to get Janet Jackson to perform for some of the gigs, including some of the Jackson 5 members for the band.

Furthermore, I've just received news that MJ's not the biological father of the 3 children. Also, Hollywood directors have already planned to shoot a biopic of Michael Jackson's life and JOHNNY DEPP as MJ?! Hell no, I wouldn't want a lousy actor playing MJ. In fact, I'm very sure many MJ fans would prefer Navi to act as Michael. That includes me.

Figure out which is Michael Jackson and which is Navi. :)

This was one of the countless of songs I've listened to since I was 3 years old and my idol when I was 4.

Although this song was by Rockwell, you had your backups in the chorus which instantly captivated me. However, this song was also by Motown, which was your label at the beginning before you went off to Epic.

Rest in peace Michael Joeseph Jackson.

Back home!

Below: Travelled by Grassland Express. Decided to watch The Simpsons Movie. My fave teevee episode!

Slept almost throughout the whole journey, 6 hours seemed like 2 hours to me. Reached KL in a jiffy.Went to Times Square to have lunch at Billy Bombers. This cheese macaroni sucked! The chicken there was nice though. =)

[Subhash is Singapore's top lawyer: those who know they're gonna have the death sentence usually finds him for help.] The food there was really good! The best I've had so far in KL.

This was around 12.30am and there were as many ppl as you would see in Orchard Road at 8pm. Below: After the latter, we headed back to Bukit Bintang, back to my hotel's district.

Bye I'm leaving for KL

Will be travelling to KL in 6 hours time. Will be staying in the "centre of the triangle" in the city itself. It's ultra near major shopping centres.

The nearest and my favourite is Berjaya Times Square. Been there before and together with its indoor theme park, it was great!

This time round, I'm planning to visit several shops there!

Showroom, selling kicks and street stuffs. There's another shop in the west wing, very near Showroom, selling Bearbricks. Hahah!

Byebyeeeeeee, will be back on Sat.

And due to the trip, I won't be able to make it for this Saturday's VS party/gathering at Expo. Sadly, for me, F.I.R, Liu Geng Hong & homegrown singer Tay Kewei will be having a talk with us.......Nvm, video it for me guys!!!, especially if JJ is going lol.

Went to OB and hung out there for awhile while waiting for Miaoru to end practice. Marcus decided to practice his dance steps. Haven't been to OB for quite a while. Once we were all ready, the 3 of us headed to Far East Plaza and while on the way, we dropped by SABOTAGE at Pacific Plaza.

Had dinner at Far East, chicken rice to be exact [ji xiong rou =P inside joke]. Eugene arrived and we went to search for stuffs to buy. In the end, I ended up buying apparel by Wazzup from Taiwan and a cap by Maniac [nono] from Taiwan. If I'm not wrong, Lanbo laoshi endorses this brand. Was supposed to meet Beishan but I had to rush back to Jurong Point to get my pet's food. =x Will make it up this Sunday!

De Show Reel Live in Concert 2009

Went to Aaron Kwok's concert at the Singapore Indoor Stadium earlier on yesterday [been back home only for 2 hours]. Had free tickets due to TS Laser being one of the sponsors and my family and I had the $188 tickets each! =P

Very interesting and powerful performance. I especially like the stage he imported from Hong Kong. Take a look at the photos which I took in the video!

My brother was a lil' bored and wasn't anticipating an encore but to no avail. Lol. The performance commenced at 8.30pm and ended at 11.30pm.

On another note, my home studio is almost there! In the meantime, the equipments I'm using are already more than enough for demos in terms of quality produced.

Btw, I think I know what Fann Wong and Terence Cao were filming when I chanced upon them in February this year: The Ultimatum, currently showing on weekdays at 9pm, Channel 8.

Old photos. Had my last official lesson of Very Singer 5th Batch with Billy laoshi about 2 Sundays ago. Well, it was actually a talk and discussion about the music industry. Had another speaker there and I guess he's one of the bosses at OB. Learnt alot during the session. The music industry is vicious and scary at 1st, but passion and interest, along with adaptability are really important if you wanna go far. Of course, there're more factors than the ones I've stated.

Anyway, after the lesson, Yee Shian drove us to Bugis Junction and we had lunch at V8 Cafe. After that, most of us left except for Beishan, Eugene and I. We headed to Peace Centre wanting to have a look at some music stuffs but the store was closed! In turn, Beishan left for her night shift work [so damn paiseh made her travel to there and she had to leave early =x].

After that, me and eugene went to The Cathay. Had Ben & Jerry's there and had Taiwan Shilin Snack's Mee Sua after that. Damn bloated and full! Decided to head back home by bus and walked a while to the bus stop for disgestion. =P

Beat making on the KORG M50.

Marcus came to my house in the early afternoon. Slacked around, tried out my new M50 from KORG.

Arggh! And I'm really eyeing a pair of GREEDY GENIUS kicks from SMUDGE [JJ's shop]. I can't get it now, need to save up!

We met Beishan at Vivo to catch the 2nd day screening of the Night At The Museum 2. Very hilarious and storyline was better than the 1st one. The makers added a lot of other characters into this film.

Went to have dinner after that and headed down to Orchard road, outside Taka to catch Miaoru and a few other VS peeps perform. Miaoru's performance was great! Very nice voice, how I envy lol. Gabriel, Collin and Shawn were good too! =)

"New Balance" on the "KORG M50"!

Thanks to my parents, I've finally gotten a synthesizer cum music workstation!

Bought this music workstation "KORG M50" on monday. Got a 30% discount due to relations with Citymusic. Selling price was around $1940. Calculate the final price yourself! =D

Both the M50 and the M3 (which costs about $3900) don't come with speakers so you got to have your very own set of speakers and make sure they support loads of bass. I'm using Altec Lansing for my surround speakers.

My dad called me up and told me there'll be free tickets to Aaron Kwok's concert in Singapore. My dad listens mainly to English orientated songs including (you would never guess this): Rock, Techno and several others. My mom's more to Chinese songs including several mandopop songs.

That's why I'm into quite a lot of genres. =D

Don't think I wanna go though. Reason being I don't think I've heard his songs before, possibly once in a blue moon. I know he's one of the Four Heavenly Kings, along with Andy Lau and Zhang Xue You (Jacky Cheung). =) Still, I don't mind going after I read this Sistic synopsis.

So different from JJ Lin's concert a few months ago.

Random: Saw this strong flush, I think it was at The Cathay's water closet if I'm not mistaken. Ever wondered about how the direction of a toilet bowl flush goes? Well, over here in Singapore, it goes counter-clockwise and in America [including countries around that region], the flush goes clockwise. This is all due to the Coriolis effect =) Interesting? Decide it for yourself.

Believed that? Hahah I once thought it was true [Thanks a lot "The Simpsons"!]. However, it is a commonly held misconception. In reality, it's due to the geometry of the bowl and other factors and can flush in either direction in either hemisphere.

Motif XS

Marcus and I met up with Eugene at Luthermusic yesterday. After quite a detailed discussion with one of the owners, we left Excelsior Shopping Centre and headed to Plaza Singapura for Eugene to make his final decision lol. Checked out Yamaha and we saw the Motif XS (all 3 series)!

There's a reason for the price above [Check out the vid below, skip to 6:22 for an interesting surprise]. I still think it's overpriced, what with GST and stuff. =P

Anyway, before we met Eugene, I was supposed to meet Marcus at 2pm but I woke up at 2.07pm. Lol sorry dude! Went down to meet him and bought back food to eat. Spent some time on one of my songs with some juicy beats but didn't improve much mainly due to me hahaha. We went on playing Soldier Front, which was Marcus's 1st time. Using 2 pcs, both of us logged on using two of my 13 accounts. =P I basically naded [grenade] him all the way to make his life low [although we were on the same team lol].

This was taken around 2 or 3 days ago, Eugene and I visited Luthermusic.

[Monday's Unplugged Performance 无插电表演]

Monday was an "on and off" nerve-wrecking day. On and off because I felt nervous but after a while, I became relax and that repeated. =))

Anyway, for our Unplugged Performance 无插电表演, my group consisted of Regina, Mireen, Betty and me of course.

Went into the studio, stage was already set up and everything and everybody looked really good to go.

And guess what? JJ Lin joined us as part of the audience! He was sitting behind my group! I saw a familiar figure walking towards us and I knew it was JJ although he was wearing dark sunglasses. Maddie says he probably thought he looked like crap or something after arriving in Singapore from Taiwan. LOL. Elated upon seeing him because he's my inspiration to mandopop music. Without JJ, I wouldn't be enjoying mandopop and perhaps I wouldn't even be listening to mandopop music. =D

JJ Lin sat behind, alongside Hong Jun Yang laoshi and Jiong Shun laoshi. Unplugged's in-house judges. =P

I wanna see the groups which sang my song! hahaha! So exciting! Oh yah, Eugene's group [Beishan, Shiying and Yee Shian] performed my song extremely well!

Here's our perf. We performed Miaoru's 如果爱情 which is a very nice song, man has she got talent! I made some vocal mistakes at the front. =x This video is not the full perf.

After our performance, JJ Lin gave some comments, talked about 合音 for the whole VS peeps, said that area can be improved. Remarks later on by Hong Jun Yang and Jiong Shun laoshis.

Very, ultra good group! Thank you for putting in so much effort R.M.B!

A while after our performances, VS2 [my class!] went out to Tanjong Pg x'change to have our dinner. Our very 1st group photo hahah! Will have more 2ml! =P Food was quite nice too!

Jediism

Wow there's such a thing!

Basically, I found my way back to "worshipping" Star Wars once again [last time I remembered I was only 12].

I was surfing wiki about the Jedi and I saw this word: Jediism.

Jediism already has 500, 000 members internationally [mostly english speaking countries]. Wow.

If you don't know what a Jedi is (below), Jedis are fictional characters and portrayed in the Star Wars sixology. They carry weapons which are more commonly known as lightsabers.

I'm just imagining come 50 years, would Jediism become an official religion? I really would like to see that day come forth sooner. =D

Jediism aside, more about Star Wars, actors and actresses from the 1978 trilogy which I took bits and pieces and put them together for you to see.

Star Wars's Fanboys.

Caught this yesterday with Bryan, Julio and Raymond. It was around 3.20pm at OB and Chloe helped us search for movies and the appropriate timings.

Finally, we embarked on Fanboys which was only 90 mins long and not too good of a plot there. Rushed down to Cineleisure, reached there around 3.45 [Fanboys started around 3.40 or so]. Fanboys is for people who have watched and understood Star Wars. If not, you won't be able to catch what they are talking about.

Here's the summary of Fanboys: Set in 1998, the story tells of a group of friends who, eager for the premiere of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace - and because one of them is suffering from cancer and wishes to see the film before his death - decide to break into Skywalker Ranch and steal an early print of the film. They travel across the country and on their way they encounter William Shatner, obsessed Trekkies, and bikers who make them undress for water.

Basically, along the way, the group of friends took a detour to find some "geek trouble" with a mob of Star Trek fans. That is one of the funniest parts in this film. If you are gonna watch this film, do have some very basic knowledge of Star Trek too. [So far I only know Captain Kirk, William Shatner (actor in Star Trek who also made a cameo) and some phrases like "Captain's Log"]. Amazingly, I've never watched Star Trek before. =D All thanks to The Simpsons episodes. Still, the bottomline is, you must have a good understanding of Star Wars before you decide to watch Fanboys.

Ending statement: If you know and understand Star Wars, you'll feel that Fanboys is QUITE a good movie [because it's all about Star Wars!], one of the best geek comedy ever, but a lil' short if you ask me. If you don't know much about Star Wars, you're gonna go "Fanboys suck big-time!"

Hurry and go catch it! Only directed to Star Wars fans and people who understand Star Wars.

Shinjuku Incident

Caught Shinjuku Incident a few days ago with the CapGroup.

I really feel this movie is really meaningful and represents part of the illegal immigrants from China.

Summary: In the early 1990s, a tractor mechanic from China nicknamed Steelhead (Jackie Chan) enters Japan illegally, in search of his girlfriend Xiu Xiu (Xu Jinglei). Steelhead and his friend, Jie (Daniel Wu) meet in the busy Shinjuku district of Tokyo and take manual labouring jobs to earn money. When Steelhead finds out that Xiu Xiu has married a Japanese Yakuza leader named Eguchi (Kato Masaya), he decides to remain in Japan. When Eguchi was targeted to be murdered, Steelhead saves his life. To consolidate power, Eguchi formes an alliance with Steelhead to carry out his revenge. Soon, Steelhead has become embroiled so deeply in the ways of the yakuza that there is no turning back.

Overall, this movie is worth watching in the cinemas. Bearing in mind that although Jackie Chan is the main character in the film, he dosen't show his martial arts skills this time round. He's more of a subtle character, no more clownish looks from him.

Jackie Chan talked about himself in the film: "maybe one per cent action. Heavy drama."

Recently met a friend who specializes in making movie props. He creates life-size props ranging from Star Wars to LOTR. That is so damn cool. =D Lightsabers like the one above [World's 1st Titanium Luke lightsaber (ROTJ)]

Daft Punk & Daft Punk Bearbricks.

Daft Punk! Listened to their songs when I was 13. I don't think anyone knows the latter. [but who cares isn't it?] =D Their songs are catchy and puts you in the groove, not because I really like House [genre].

Basically, this is their response when asked why they signed with Virgin as their record company:

People say we're control freaks, but control is controlling your destiny without controlling other people. We're not trying to manipulate other people, just controlling what we do ourselves. Controlling what we do is being free. People should stop thinking that an artist that controls what he does is a bad thing. A lot of artists today are just victims, not having control, and they're not free. And that's pathetic. If you start being dependent on money, then money has to reach a point to fit your expenses"

After reading that, I just thought all of a sudden what would I want if I were an artiste, be it singer, producer whatever.

Well, I would definitely want control. With sufficient control, I'll be able to create oppurtunities for myself, making money from there. =P Still, control is rare and difficult to come by nowadays.

When I came home the other day, I saw a huge cockroach near my doorstep and I used one of the slippers laying around my carporch and slammed the cockroach hard. =D It was still moving =.=". I headed to the kitchen after that and when I turned back to go out, I realised, to my horror, 2 freakishly gigantic cockroaches with red stripes were having sex. =.="!!!!!!!!!

JJ World Tour 2009 Kicks Off!

The peak of the concert, most touching part. [I have a gut feeling it's rehearsed, still, it was touching]

Basically, the whole of his (JJ Lin) family [his mom playing the Pipa, his dad playing the Er-hu and his brother playing the Piano] came onto center-stage to perform as a birthday present for him.

JJ broke his voice twice on my count but it was an awesome and spectacular performance nonetheless [as usual, he belted out high parts very well].

Ahhh! Just practiced the dance moves and I'm gonna give my best tomorrow! Jiayou to everyone in VS! I don't really care who wins or loses (boys or girls). As long as I know, what matters the most to me is that I've given my best shot at it. =]

SMUDGE store at Ann Siang Hill.

Met up with VS friends at OB. Was supposed to meet them at 11am [Lol] but I woke up at 12pm! [Shyt, late as always!] I set 8 alarms the night before and I didn't wake to the loud ringing alarm! =.="

Reached there ard 1pm and basically Regina said she'll ignore me [lmao] but after several mins later she talked to me. :-D

And they have already practiced their dance so my effort in bringing my track pants was wasted [Nvm, I have plenty of time to practice at home =D]

After eating at Maxwell and hanging out at OB until 5pm, we finally headed to the long-awaited SMUDGE store at 8 Ann Xiang Hill. It's kinda near OB so I basically pulled everyone there. xD

It's kinda small actually, probably because it just opened and there aren't many things compared to stores like Royalefam etc [But the amount of products there were sufficient!] I seriously love the Greedy Genius shoes! Damnit it's so nice! The tees too, were nice and made of good material. The only thing I didn't really like were the caps [only 1 design and it's dull]. I have to be honest here. Since I couldn't take any photos, I grabbed these photos from JJ Lin's blog. [To link his blog is a way of courtesy and not to promote JJ Lin]

Anyway's', after that we headed to Music Storey to meet Mireen. Soon after, we strolled to PCC at Red Dot and it wasn't opened. We then went to Tanjong Pg Exchange and the food stores there weren't opened too =.=". So our last resort was to walk out near office buildings and we finally saw a 24 hours Macdonalds! Hahah. And damn, the Macdonalds was kinda posh. [Not the photo below]

Anyway's', I'm currently quite busy with Very Singer stuff and music related stuffs. Speaking of vocals, I guess it's time to try new styles and use techniques to help improve my voice. Miaoru from my VS class is fabulous! Her voice is so good, shall share her singing here soon! =D And Miaoru mentioned on her blog about my piano skills [I feel so honoured haha!]. Lol. I'm sure you can do it too! =]
